Tips For Enjoying Pain-Free Anal Sex

Anal sex can be an exciting and rewarding activity, but for some, there may be a few setbacks. One of the biggest issues people have is discomfort and pain, which can completely ruin the experience.

After all, when it comes to any type of sex, comfort and pleasure are paramount – unless of course, it’s pain you’re looking for!

For many, the idea of trying anal can be daunting due to fears that it’ll hurt, which can result in couples never exploring this new dimension of pleasure. So in this post, we’ll be offering some tips to make anal as pleasurable as possible for both partners.

Lube, Lube Lube!

Never try anal without using plenty of lube as this is almost sure to cause pain and scare your partner off the idea for good!

Unlike the vagina, the anus doesn't naturally lubricate itself, so using plenty of anal lube is essential to reduce friction and discomfort.

When it comes to choosing the right lube, opt for one that’s water-based and specifically formulated for anal sex. These are designed for this type of sex so they’ll provide all the lubrication you need.

Don't be afraid to reapply lube as needed throughout the experience to ensure smooth and comfortable penetration.

Start Slowly

If your partner is concerned about pain or discomfort, you won't want to go charging in like a bull in a China shop! This will merely put them off the idea further.

So start off slowly and gently. Begin with gentle foreplay to relax the muscles and build arousal. The key is to communicate with your partner and gauge what feels good and what doesn’t.

If they’re feeling okay, gradually progress to inserting a lubed finger or small anal toy to help your partner become accustomed to the sensation.

Focus On Relaxation And Breathing

For the receiver, relaxation is crucial for enjoyable anal sex. If the body is tense then this can make penetration much more uncomfortable.

So make sure you take deep breaths and focus on relaxing the all-important muscles around the bum. Other relaxation techniques, such as massage, essential oils and setting the mood with some ambient music and lighting is also sure to help.

Try Different Positions

Finding the right position can make a world of difference when it comes to anal sex. The tricky part to this is there’s no one-size-fits-all solution – for some, certain positions may be excruciating, while for others they can be heaven on earth!

So try to overcome this by experimenting with different positions to find what works best for you and your partner. As a heads up, some popular positions for anal sex include missionary with the receiver's legs lifted, doggy or spooning, although you’re free to get creative once you’re both feeling comfortable.
